I've observed the phenomenon "kernel 2.6.27.19-3.2-default breaks ATI
Proprietary Linux Driver-8.582" on two different systems.
Both are running SuSE 11.1 with current kernel update.
Before the kernel update, both systems worked flawlessly on the video side.

Hi Christoph,
the description of the Kernel Update said that this kernel Update breaks KABI
(which means all external Kernelmodule) .
According to the description it was necessary to create compatibility between
Opensuse 11.1 and SLE 11 (they at the same Kernelversion now) Thisshould not
happen again. as far as I am aware there is no updated proprietary ATI driver
yet. (Nvidia provided one the day of the Kernelupdate over a week ago)
best regards
Stefan
