[opensuse-factory] packagekitd keeps locking system management

It seems that pretty much every time I try and run zypper I get a
message like the following:
System management is locked by the application with pid 5750
(/usr/sbin/packagekitd).
Close this application before trying again.
If I try it a few times the message goes away and zypper works. Now I
understand there is an applet that checks to see if there updates at
first boot but this message happens no matter how long I've been logged
in and I believe has even reoccurred after running zypper previously.
It seems like packagekitd keeps starting and stopping?
