A fix for an older issue, but is the performance better when using the
older acceleration method? Try adding the mentioned option to your
xorg.conf in the Device section.
Option "AccelMethod" "Xaa"
I've seen performance drops in 11.0 too when applying the
xorg-video-drives update.
