Try what J suggested, then when you want to install the driver, here is my quick reference:

Thank you very much for that. Shouldn't that be in the Wiki some place?
Unfortunately since there was no way to create packages for 64bit 11.1 I just let the installer do the install and now I've got major problems. Any tips for how to uninstall the fglrx driver when it wasn't installed as an RPM?
NOTE - the most recent 8-11 driver will not build on openSuSE > 10.3. See:
Is it legit to build the AMD64 on a 64 bit Intel? I've got a Core2 Duo.
John,
I think you can grab a copy of the 8-9 driver and it builds just fine on 11.0 so I don't see any reason it won't build on 11.1. You can get all previous drivers here:
http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/linux64/radeonprevious-linux64.html
Also, the 8-10 and 8-11 drivers have performance issues compared to 8-9. 8-9 is 100% faster than the 8-11 driver on box.
So far I have not been able to compile the ATI drivers on a Intel Core 2 dual under Opensuse Factory. I tried 8-11 as well as 8-9. Is there any "official" communication with ATI? Would we normally expect them to have a package ready for 11.1 when it's released or is a significant lag time expected? -- John Lange www.johnlange.ca -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
