Hi,

OK, thanks for clearing this up.
Is NM still the recommended way of configuring a wireless network ?
Because I have no way of making a wireless connection under KDE at the moment
(the network applet under KDE4 doesn't work for me).

I have been using nm-applet for more than a year with kde4 now ... It works
perfectly execpt for the missing icons:

What bothers me is this:

Driver Info #0:
Driver Status: ath5k is active
Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe ath5k"
Config Status: cfg=no, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown

config=no? available=yes? need=no? active=unknown?

this is complete nonsens!
it has to be configuered if it is available, because it is needed to
work, if it is not working it is not active, why is that unknown?
