Re sound: go to Control Centre and check that the Volume setting(s) are
still set to the correct (~max) levels. I've found that upgrades
sometimes alter the settings.

Re stuttering. Same thing happened to me yesterday. I rebooted the
system and the problem seems to have vanished. Try it.
