Hello!

I just installed OpenSuse 11.1 beta 4 this morning to play around with
Nomad. I got xrdp installed and started ok, and I opened port 3389 in my
firewall. When I try to connect with Remote Desktop I get connected, but
the user authentication fails. I get a session window with the OpenSuse
background and the following connection log error dialog:

*-----------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------
* connecting to sesman ip 127.0.0.1 port 3350
* sesman connect ok
* sending login info to sesman
* login failed
*-----------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------

I checked the warn and message logs. Warn logs didn't have anything, but
the message log had the following:

*-----------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------
* xrdp-sesman: pam_warn(gdm:auth): function=3D[pam_sm_authenticate]
service=3D[gdm] terminal=3D[<unknown>] user=3D[<unknown>] *
ruser=3D[<unknown>] rhost=3D[<unknown>]
*-----------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------

I thought port 3350 looked out of place so I tried changing it to 3389
in /etc/xrdp/sesman.ini and restarting xrdp. That didn't work (wouldn't
even give me a session window) so I changed it back and tried opening
port 3350 in my firewall, but that didn't help either.

I use remote desktop on my windows box everyday so I know it works like
it's supposed to. Are there xrdp config files anywhere other than
/etc/xrdp? Also, are there any other logs I should check?

Thanks for your help,
Biff
