[opensuse-factory] Adding an icon in 4.1

Is there a way to add an application icon to the task bar in 11.1 with
KDE 4.1? I've tried everything I can think of and it's a "no go." Also,
even though the taskbar does hide, it doesn't work properly...often
staying up till you "touch" it with the cursor. Also, how does one
reduce the size of icons on the desktop?!
