I don't know who else to write this to... but look at this openSUSE product that has come about. Isn't it grand? I do anything I want to, and with compiz fusion I can flip between desktops with such easy and fluidity. and a 64 bit dual core processor, I don't have to buy the expensive Windows upgrade to get the computer I bought to be used at its full potential. Believe it or not, I'm actually using a Linux environment for commercial graphics work using the Gimp. ... in addition to me being a programmer on the LAMP platform. : Helas, I had to buy a commercial product called Komodo to really organize my thoughts in this coding paradigm. ... it's a great product, but it's a little slow with tool tips, and I really depend on those because I'm completely absent-minded. At any rate... I just wanted to say that Linux has come such a long way since I first started using it 12 years ago (Debian was always my preferred installation, but I've bought copies of both Red Hat and SuSE since then... ) ... openSuSE is by far the best distribution for my needs (and desires). ... admittedly, I prefer gnome over KDE, but GNOME isn't as processor-intensive as KDE is... and since many of the applications that I'm running depend on the GTK library, I felt it was only sensible to run the GNOME environment to leave my processing power open. ... especially since I also run a web server where my clients preview my work from, on the same system. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
