Hello, Wow! Is this really the best way to distribute live CD images? I just found this package while updating the local factory mirror:
# ls -l kiwi-image-livecd-gnome-11.1-26.1.i586.rpm -rw-r--r-- 1 czanik 192 834053147 Oct 2 19:40 kiwi-image-livecd-gnome-11.1-26.1.i586.rpm # rpm -qlp kiwi-image-livecd-gnome-11.1-26.1.i586.rpm /usr/share/kiwi /usr/share/kiwi/output /usr/share/kiwi/output/kiwi-image-livecd-gnome-openSUSE-11.1.i686-2.7.0.iso
That is an iso file packaged into a 834MB rpm file :-)
Well, the LiveCDs are built as rpm packages in build service, so the built package contains the ISO. But this is technical implementation, not how we distribute the iso ;-)
Those special rpms shouldn't make it into the factory trees. Adrian is working on excluding them from the tree in the future. Please note, the LiveCDs uploaded there don't work because of the kernel split. I'm currently building them locally with a fixed kiwi. ... Beta2 announcement coming up within the next hour ;) Best, Christoph -- Christoph Thiel, Tech.
