Hi, Sid
grub-0.97-150.1.x86_64.rpm is broken and I guess there was something wrong in openSUSE build service(at least for x86_64 arch), because opensuse-11.1-beta is built by it.
I installed grub-0.97-150.1.x86_64.rpm on my opensuse-11.0-x86_64 box and it took long to finish the installation(about 1 minute on my T8100 laptop). After that, I cd to /boot/grub folder. See what I found

All files installed from grub-0.97-150.1.x86_64.rpm are larger than 100M!!
Then I rebuilt the package from grub-0.97-150.1.src.rpm, installed it, and everything went fine.
BTW, the original grub-0.97-150.1.x86_64.rpm is more than twice as large as the one I built. Isn't that strange?
Hope there's someone who can figure out what's going on in opensuse build service.

I've been away over the last 3 days and grub in the repo is still the broken 0.97-150.1. Has the DVD been updated for my fresh install and on the updated boxes, is there a workaround? Using webmail as my main box is down, won't boot because of this problem. Regards Sid.

After upgrading to the rebuilt src.rpm, the stage files changed and were very large, so I copied the ones I saved on a USB stick over and ran grub-install. Only the laptop reported a problem and I shall have to check later if it will boot. The box that was hanging in grub now boots successfully. # grub-install GNU GRUB version 0.97 (640K lower / 3072K upper memory) [ Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported.
