Did you have a separate /boot partition formatted with ext2/3 filesystem?

No, I just had / and swap, no /boot. If this is _not_ supported by grub,
then the installer/partitioner should warn me about it.
So, should I open a bugreport against grub or against the installer?
idea of beta testing is so the software can be used in as many
environments as possible. Let the developers determine if its really
an issue or not.
