I vote solution A with Martin, and agree with his observations.

If you need KDE 3.5, you can use openSUSE 11.0, and you'll continue to
recieve security updates until around June 2010. And if you still "need"
KDE 3.5 at that point, that's something that needs to be discussed with
the KDE guys.
