Reading through
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=473128 looks like
- Debian already packages openal-soft like the official openal,
without -soft suffix.
- Upstream really considers openal-soft to be the "official"
implementaion, deprecating the one from http://www.openal.org/ that
still points to the old implementation just because nobody has updated
the web page.
home:lnussel:ioquake3 already has a package for openal-soft. So, there
is any plan to change from openal to openal-soft for 11.1?
