alsa* and alsa-plugins-pulse for alsa-based apps, pulseaudio,
padevchooser, paprefs, paman, pavucontrol, pavumeter. Then, if pulse is
not running:

$ pulseaudio -D

after this, on a GNOME desktop, all sound apps should work
