I run OpensSuse Beta2 (x86_64)on a Toshiba laptop with a RTL8187b wlanadapter. The modules are loaded, but the card does not show up as wlan. iwconfig gives me:

lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

dmesg | grep -i wlan shows

usb 6-6: Product: RTL8187B_WLAN_Adapter

lsmod | grep -i rtl

rtl8187 52608 0
usbcore 188120 4 ehci_hcd,ohci_hcd,rtl8187
mac80211 220436 1 rtl8187
eeprom_93cx6 19328 1 rtl8187

i tried this from "Most_Annoying_Bugs_11.0_dev"

/usr/sbin/wpa_supplicant -c /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf -u -f /var/log/wpa_supplicant.log &

an got as result

dbus_bus_request_name[dbus]: Resource temporarily unavailable
Failed to initialize wpa_supplicant

I tried to install the ralink-firmware package with yast but it said the package is not available. Then i downloaddt the package and installed it manual. Yast shows it as installed but with 0 files.

rpm - ql ralink-firmware shows

/lib/firmware/LICENSE.ralink-firmware.txt
/lib/firmware/rt2561.bin
/lib/firmware/rt2561s.bin
/lib/firmware/rt2661.bin
