You're right, and, I fully intend on trying this out in more detail
with my 11.0 Alpha when I get home tonight (I should have made it
clear that I was planning on doing this).  I will provide a much more
comprehensive view of what I am getting at in the next day or two.

Unless there have been some VERY major changes to the YAST software
installer work flow, I fully expect my comments to stand.  I have been
known to be wrong though :-)

Just a general comment about YAST... especially with what I see has
been done with 11.0Alpha 3.. things are on the right track.  Each
release has major improvements.
