Using YaST: search for 'rpm' package and mark it to update to the latest version. Only this particular package. Then press "Accept". This should work without problems. Then you can update all other packages you are interested in.
Anyway, isn't there a way to provide some better feedback from RPM? Make all other packages conflicting with the old RPM? Er, ehm, even if it doesn't sound so good, it has its logic :) ;)
Can we solve this somehow? Actually the info is in the requires of the rpm, but rpm somehow ignores it itself - and the solver does on purpose ;(
