* Stephan Kulow [2008-03-27 10:35]:
IMO the best sound editor on Linux. At least for users that don't use a
sound editor often. ;) Should stay on DVD. Maybe in some multimedia
pattern.
Good for non-interactive usage. I use it for key bindings in my
environment. Maybe in some console pattern where also mutt and screen
resides.
I don't use it, but it would be a pity if that would be dropped from
DVD. This was developed @SUSE and ISDN is still used for fax ...
I use that at home where I don't have that fast build machines. ;)
Should stay on DVD, in some development pattern where also gcc resides.
That should be even in the rescue CD I think. :)
Very useful on laptops where you don't have an internet connection.
Should stay. I even would install it by default on KDE and GNOME. ;)
Keep this. Basic tool. Uli needs that to write his mail. ;) Console
pattern.
Keep this! Very useful tools to rip CDs. One of the "just works" tool
that I really like. :) Multimedia pattern.
My favourite image browser. GNOME pattern.
Good alternative to kprinter. Keep this. I'd even add this in the Xfce
pattern.
Best Postscript viewer ever! Please keep. Maybe some "plain old X
applications" pattern.
Hey, that's my most used application! Allows much nicer color schemes
than vim and also a better mouse usage [yes, I know :set mouse=a].
Please keep, maybe some deveopment pattern.
Hm ..., don't use that any longer, but I used it as programming editor
for a long time. I still think that it's very nice. Depeding on which
Java we ship with the DVDs (only Sun or IBM Java has a complete Swing
implementation, IIRC) that might stay, too. Deveopment pattern.
The best ftp client forever. Please keep! I'd even install that by
default. Console pattern.
I often use that at home to mount file systems over VPN. Keep. ;)
I use that for file synchronisation every day. One of the programs
that "just work". Please keep. Maybe the same "plain old X pattern" as
gv.
Standard unix program. I'd even install that by default. Console
pattern.
Console pattern.
Doesn't work without usbfs. I wrote a patch to port to libusb but I
didn't get any response from Greg KH. I'd drop that package in current
state entirely.
Nice for "old" window managers. Please keep. Although I don't use it
currently.
Since that contains the library ... I use that for an program that shows
the dektop name when switching desktops. Please keep. ;)
Becoming nostalgic. :) vote++, "old X pattern".
See other discussion. Same pattern as gv.
My daily usage image viewer. Can read from stdin
quilt graph|dot -Tpng|xv -
Not many programs can do this. "old X pattern".
Thanks for listening,
Bernhard
