Yea, LZMA (aka 7-zip) is really cool technology. I play with it since 2004(?).
It is the best compression for general-cases, but can be beaten for
multimedia purposes only by ACE and RAR.
I think Igor Pavlov (from 7-zip) developed both the LZMA algorithm and
the 7-zip for Windows application.
