Should have said that it's a 450MHz box, but it's not memory bound.
As I read the log, about 2min to order.init(), then 13min for
SET NEW media, or about 15min without user-visible action. With the
new light speed :)) of zypper that seemed out of order.
Even on semi-recent hardware that's still a significant time though.

This is supposed to be fixed in AFAIK 4.2.10; for sure in 4.3.x.


Your libzypp version is listed in the log:

# grep ZConfig.cc /var/log/zypper.log
...

If it occurs with a recent version, please file a bugreport.
