In KMail:
Extract file opensuse-factory-2008-01.mbox.gz with Ark to your Kmail
directory, default is ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail.
Start Kmail and you will see new folder 'opensuse-factory-2008-01' select all
messages and move them to original factory folder.
Go to Folder dropdown menu (top of the window) and select Remove Duplicate
Messages.
Delete 'opensuse-factory-2008-01' folder.
In my case not much missed.

Is there a way to recover the messages. They should not bounce as my
