if you plan to rewrite the oprinter ui, be aware (if not yet :-) that 
the options are very criptic - nearly unintelligible.

for example, the menu in cups server gives for first choice 
recommended a choice that prevent using a local printer. Many people 
have an inkjet copor printer *and* a net laser hardcopy printer, so 
this option won't work

as serching for the server usually don't work (I have seen it work 
only for a hp jetdirect server, not for any opensuse box!), it's quite 
confusing.

but probably it's just a vocabulary problem...
