Thats interesting since my experience is quite contrary. I have now
completely switched to iwl since I had too many AP connections problems
with ipw. I am running 10.3 Beta3 btw.
I do have
options iwl3945 disable_hw_scan=1
in my /etc/modprobe.conf.local though.
