So.. downloaded the KDE CD. It booted up nicely... and quite fast (in
VirtualBox).
Once the desktop got started up, I was presented with a popup saying
that it had found a network card and would I like to set it up. I
clicked Yes, and got the window for the root password... which I don't
know (at least it's not obvious at this point). The NIC works fine...
so only a minor issue... but still, this raises the question, what
does a user need to do when he or she tries to do something that needs
root level access.. for example to reconfigure a NIC.
