I see exactly the same problem:
From dmesg:
SCSI device sda: write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support
DPO or FUA
sda: sda1 sda2 sda3
sd 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi disk sda
sd 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg0 type 0
scsi 1:0:0:0: CD-ROM MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-830S 1.02 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5
scsi 1:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg1 type 5
BIOS EDD facility v0.16 2004-Jun-25, 1 devices found
sr0: scsi3-mmc drive: 24x/24x writer dvd-ram cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray
Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20
sr 1:0:0:0: Attached scsi CD-ROM sr0
# mount /dev/sr0 /mnt
mount: special device /dev/sr0 does not exist
My device was previously /dev/hdb as I recall although it may have been hdc
I am running latest Factory:
# cat /etc/SuSE-release
openSUSE 10.3 (i586) Alpha3
VERSION = 10.3
Cheers
