Whilst doing update or software installation in YaST, I was getting an apparent hang during SuSEconfig of the tetex module - it has got stuck there for around 8 hours and counting until I killed SuSEconfig. While YaST was still updating packages, I tried installing another RPM and got a message that said I should "rm /var/lock/SuSEconfig-is-running". After doing that SuSEconfig produced the following messages:- kpsestat: /etc/texmf/ls-R: Value too large for defined data type kpsestat: /etc/texmf/ls-R: Value too large for defined data type kpsestat: /etc/texmf/ls-R: Value too large for defined data type kpsestat: /etc/texmf/ls-R: Value too large for defined data type # l /etc/texmf/ total 43985423 drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 200 2007-03-10 07:19 ./ drwxr-xr-x 132 root root 10392 2007-03-16 17:12 ../ drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 72 2007-02-23 18:31 dvips/ -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 44997120000 2007-03-08 13:04 ls-R <<=== drwx------ 2 root root 48 2007-03-10 07:23 .lsR.d20218/ drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 168 2007-02-23 18:31 tex/ drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 176 2007-02-26 11:42 web2c/ drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 72 2007-02-26 11:42 xdvi/ Surprisingly a "ls-R" file that took up over half of my remaining disk space. This is what it now looks like

Strange, perhaps something that occurred during updates. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce ...
