hi

suse boot time is very slow, about 54 sec on my dual core 4200+, 1 gig of ram. I removed a lot of services.

this kind of system should booted in less than 30 sec

the optimisation could be change depending of the profile of the machine.

home machine
server
....

for a home user, the login screen should display very early in the boot process.
Network could start after this boot screen, same thing for cups.

Instead of use bash, dash could be used.
It's take less memory and start program faster.

Instead of detecting at everyboot the harddware, suse could save the info and use it for everyboot.
A boot option could be added to detect new hardware.

Keep service very low should be done.

thanks
