I had the same problem (window hangs at 99% "finishing") on the 32-bit installation on my T60 Thinkpad when I ran the update and it installed 3 new Firefox packages.
I finally gave up and rebooted.
This is a serious problem. I know people that switched from suse to another distribution, because of the update problems.
