after the text mode install, I was in the way of installing X (only basic, I had no room for more). When I was asked to look at the exess gnome packages (see elsewhere on this list), I went to the computer, it was asking for the second cd. I hit "cancel", go back to the yast software template menu, unmark X and accept. I had a screen with no package to remove and exit yast.
