Installed alpha 4 on my second harddrive. First I learned that the DVD
made by makeSUSEdvd again produces a "couldn't initialize catalogues"
error when I tried to install with it. So I fell back to the 5 CDs
which worked quite well, except (of course) that the USB Mouse went
mad - installing by keyboard gave me really a hard time.
I had also a new problem with my LCD and unsupported display modes
provides by Sax2. In 10.1 I had no problem with this and now the only
setting which works is 1024x786@60. Running 10.1 sax2 shows a PTS
PROVIEW Monitor 1280x1024@75 (30-80kHz, 50-75Hz), but I'll investigate
in this.
I also recognized that openSUSE wants to delete my root AND also my
home partition, when doing a fresh install. It would be better to
have a detection that asks if one wants to keep the home partition.
Personally I always update SUSE by installing in root and keeping all
my data on /home.
As a new feature I would like that the alpha/beta versions won't
change my default grub bootscreen, 'cause I really want to keep my
10.1 bootscreen.
So far, alpha 4 works impressively well for an alpha and I really like
the new KDE menu.

Kind greetings, have a happy openSUSE time, Tom.
