Yes, indeed! I hadn't realised that this is where you were
hitting the problem - sorry to misunderstand. I haven't
experienced this in recent years, but agree that a
conservatively timed (i.e. 60Hz I suppose) VESA standard
mode should be used here, matching the resolution chosen at
the boot screen. (Can't remember what the choices are here -
640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024, from memory).
