If you mean Scilab: yes, looks like you need to disable XGL resp. AIXGL 
if you like to use applications that a rendering openGL directly.

and other fair stuff (like caps and so on). I'm shure you can show 
openSUSE-Edu for 11.0 (and perhaps even SLED) on your next events. :-)
