I rebooted our mail server this evening to find that it failed to reboot.
I get the grub loader followed by
Loading Linux.............................................
Then nothing!
This is on a suse 9.1 box, running the latest suse kernel.
I have booted from the suse disks and can mount the drive from rescue mode, all looks ok to the untrained eye!
My guess is that a kernel update has gone wrong at some point, and the reboot has found it, question is how do I recover from this?
(I could really do with avoiding a full rebuild from scratch, the reboot was to start a backup of our new dns settings!)
Any suggestions?
Thanks
