As an american I am not sure I understand that word irony, it's not in
my dictionary.
Btw, I am not american, just worked with them for some time, perhaps
other alleged cases such as 'ms'-dos ( from a small seattle based
company), gui (from a small company called Xerox), nt kernel {from a
small company called digital or DEC depending on your age), tcp/ip and
utilities from University of California Berkley/BSD), Xenix (from BSD)
to name ones that occur to me immediatley could also be considered as
stories that need to be told.
