I've been working on virtual learning environment (VLE, sometimes referred to as learning platform or learning management system) implementation for an MBA Educational Management dissertation, and would like to find out more about experience elsewhere in this technology. My particular interest is the extent to which VLEs can contribute to knowledge management in schools.
I can't talk about how they're used in schools per se, but I can talk about how they're being used in Universities. Part of my work last year, was sorting out a VLE for those people with special needs. Not that there was any bias towards that body of people -- it just happened to be the area I was assigned to. We also have some VLEs for other faculties, but I cannot comment on their usage. As to how they can be used to contribute knowledge management -- it is an easy centralised way for this to be achieved. Essentiallym, other than that, the effect it has depends on who uses it, and their attitudes towards doing so. I'm being deliberately vague. If there's something specific you want to know, you will have to ask. -- Thomas Adam ===== "The Linux Weekend Mechanic" -- http://linuxgazette.net "TAG Editor" -- http://linuxgazette.net "<shrug> We'll just save up your sins, Thomas, and punish you for all of them at once when you get better. The experience will probably kill you. :)" -- Benjamin A. Okopnik (Linux Gazette Technical Editor) ___________________________________________________________ ALL-NEW Yahoo!
