Basically, does anybody have any experience with SUSE/Mandrake/Debian/any other suitable distro of automating updates
I have automated Debian updates across a cluster in the past. Most of it has been done for you, with "apt-get update && apt-get upgrade" able to do most of the hard work of selecting, downloading and installing. You just need to pick appropriate options to make sure it only upgrades as much as you're comfortable with, and to try to ensure that it keeps good records. apt-listchanges was useful for that, but things have moved on. If you would like more information, you might find some at http://www.uk.debian.org/doc/ and you can ask more specific questions if you want. -- MJR/slef My Opinion Only and possibly not of any group I know.
