We already have Redhat, Suse, Debian, ad naus distros. These differ greatly in the way apps are packaged, e.g. file locations or initial configurations.
If this troubles you, please support standardisation projects like linuxbase.org, but I don't think it's a huge problem. A bit of flexibility is a wonderful thing and having fairly easy package creation helps.
I also remember Corel snapping up a Linux distro - and what eventually happened to CorelLinux ??
CorelLinux was based on Debian, IIRC. It became Xandros, which is still available and I think still based on Debian. -- MJR/slef My Opinion Only and possibly not of any group I know.
