Anyone using XP clients on a Samba PDC?
Yup.
(At the moment, I use a combination of mandatory policies and config.pol on W98 with Samba).
I use a similar approach with Windows XP. ntconfig.pol does indeed work with XP, and you can sort out the rest with a mandatory profile. As an aside, I am working on an out-of-the-box solution for using samba and XP in education. It supports user management via csv files and allow management via 'friendly' wrapper scripts. Whether I'll actually get as far as releasing it is another matter, but work is progressing quite nicely at the moment,
Are there any friendly (read does not assume any prior knowledge) docs on how to set up user or group policies and policing them via Samba. We're just moving from Win9x with Winlock installed to WinXP workstations and I have no knowledge how to prevent users from breaking things. Also, I've been looking at things like roaming profiles, which I believe can be done - i.e. work similar to LTSP where your desktop appears wherever you're logged in.
All the best, Nial.
