Can I ask if each user has their own set of profile files or have you been able to prevent this happening (assuming you use a standard desktop and setting for all/groups of users? We offer a standard feature set to students on Win95/98 clients (Linux/Samba PDC) but I having difficulty doing the same for XP clients. I don't want Mb of settings files being loaded and saved at each logon. Regards John Low At 14:05 04/07/03 +0100, you wrote:

Anyone using XP clients on a Samba PDC?
Yup.
(At the moment, I use a combination of mandatory policies and config.pol on W98 with Samba).
I use a similar approach with Windows XP. ntconfig.pol does indeed work with XP, and you can sort out the rest with a mandatory profile. As an aside, I am working on an out-of-the-box solution for using samba and XP in education. It supports user management via csv files and allow management via 'friendly' wrapper scripts. Whether I'll actually get as far as releasing it is another matter, but work is progressing quite nicely at the moment,
All the best, Nial.
