Sorry, haven't tried mainactor, I do remember seeing an article in either linux format or magazine a while ago, I'll see if I can find the ref. but from what I remember capabilities where pretty much akin to kino and cinelerra. BTW looking at your dmesg output you seem to have an operational device, I would check the permissions on /dev/raw1394 though otherwise you may have probs using it as anything other than root. I have just got a digital video camera and a firewire card. I assume
