As BT generously tell you, you don't have to use them as an ADSL provider, although we use them and so far haven't had too many probs. With regard to the ADSL 'modem' (being picky but it's not really a modem) the Alcatel Speedtouch is claimed to work ok, but I opted for the ZOOM X3 which is Ethernet connected and also provides firewall,NAT and DHCP if required, not the cheapest solution on the market but provides for pretty much plug and play. Hi all:
Broadband is coming to my sleepy retreat in Dorset in September and I was wondering if anyone could suggest a modem/provider combination? BT only supply the "voyager" modem which does not (they claim) support Linux. I don't really want to use BT as they are robber baron's but don't know how much leighway there is? I have also looked at Virgin as they sem the lesser of many evils.
