Hi all:
I have recently purchased a HDD and CDRW for my machine to improve the
usability somewhat. However, on installing the devices, in any combination
of jumpers and configurations, I seem to be getting interupt errors. The OS
boots as far as "Scanning for new hardware" and hangs. When I do
ctrl+alt+F10 I see the following messages:
bad special flag 0x03
lost interupt
no flushcache support
This is repeated endlessly and it never boots. The device is dual boot with
RedHat and that gets past this and shows the devices in the hardware list
but they don't work.
Also, the boot up shows that there is a floppy but I can't get that to work
as it also has disk i/o error messages.
Is it pilot error or a bad motherboard?
Any help much appreciated.
Paul
PS Hope to see you all in Danbury
