I'd be really interested in the steps you had to take to get this
especially any .conf .rc or other files had to be manually tweaked. Yep, I had to download samba-2.2.3a.tar.gz from samba.org, compile with various switches to turn on winbind, edit /etc/rc.d/smb to start winbind, and then edit
working - the pam files to make winbind users visable.
OK - which switches? And (of course) what changes in ../smb And what changes to pam files? Where are they in SUSE? (You can assume from this that I don't know much - although I do now know a lot more than I used to about LINUX!) <snipped>
Have you tried getting the main linux logon to be authenticated by the NT domain?
Not yet, but KDE now shows all domain users at the logon screen!
I will be documenting what I did over the next week or so, Ill send you a copy if you want.
Definately! A 'Noddy' guide would be most useful. TIA -- Alan Davies Head of Computing Birkenhead School
