I tested CUPS earlier today and i couldn't work out how to make it print to the Magicolor. it is setup with an ip in the same range and subnet etc as the server, and i tried all kinds of things like socket, ipp, http etc and i couldn't get it to print. Would i have to connect it to the printer port or is it possible to use its network interface somehow without pointing every client directly at it? I am looking at changing a school network to use a Linux server. I have a network with Win95 clients already and a WinNT4 server. I also have 4 QMS Magicolor II printers currently setup on the server and then shared to the network. If I got a linux server running and setup CUPS and Samba - would it matter that linux doesn't have a driver for the Magicolor IIs, or can the win95 clients just use their drivers 'through' the linux box?
It won't matter; the processing will take place on the Win95 boxes and they will treat Samba as a raw print queue.
