Having taught Computing (and now ICT) I have the greatest sympathy for this
point of view. Most school courses are pretty pants, being neither education
nor training. Excuse an old cynic.

Ah. You have never had to network a CD then. The whole process becomes
VERY non-trivial :-) But as you say I doubt the GNVQ covers that.
