I've checked the bios and apm and they don't seem to be responsible. Where do I look next?
Since you're using X you want to have a look at the manpage for xset. You can either turn off the power management stuff by putting: xset -dpms in .xinitrc Or you can change the blanking time: xset s 600 s blank eg. set it to 10 mins. I'd go for the latter. It will alert you to the fact that the child hasn't touched their computer for 10 minutes & you can then flog them or administer some other appropriate punishment ;-) -- Frank *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Boroughbridge.
