Because it's a big job, and requires rather a lot of local customisation.

Lots, but none popular with users AFAIK. Cans of worms really.

But very difficult to organise. We can provide a lively environment for a
programmer. But we are being forced along a commercial path at present,
with home-grown MySQL in parallel.
