hmmm, all you Latex --> pdf'ers instead of pdflatex, use latex --> dvips --> ps2pdf means that you dont have to convert those eps diagrams. Better output. Adobe will definitely not want to annoy long-term customers by losing backward compatibility with millions of archived documents, so things *should* be OK for well-formed code generated by Open programs.
