hmmm,

all you Latex --> pdf'ers instead of pdflatex, use latex --> dvips --> ps2pdf
means that you dont have to convert those eps diagrams. Better output.
Acroread in later version has also stopped loading some pdf's, so you try
xpdf instead. Sometimes its the other way round
