The setup for a caching-only DNS server is basically the same as any other; it doesn't have any config files to act as master or slave for specific domains - just the files for localhost and root servers. Most distros will have this setup as the default, you will just need to check it and start it. The DNS-howto is quite good. ____________________________________ Giles Nunn - Network Manager Carms Schools ICT Development Centre Tel: +44 01239 710662 Fax: 710985 ____________________________________ On Mon, 14 May 2001, sparkz wrote:
thanks to everyone for help.
hmmm thought it might be to do with DNS. I have the machine set up as a DNS server but not a caching DNS server (because i never heard of one LOL) so if you know how to set one up or could point me in the right direction i would be gratefull.
I've looked through all the config files but can't see any options that would change things.
thanks sparkz
